TITLE Ill-Posedness and Tikhonov Regularization in the Study of Inverse Problems

ABSTRACT It is well known that Tikhonov regularization is a powerful method for solving the ill-posed problem. In the study of inverse problems, there are many nonlinear ill-posed problems. The problems of how to choose the regularization terms and how to choose the regularization parameters are keys for applying regularization to the ill-posed problems. In this talk, we will present some results for applying the Tikhonov regularization to inverse problems for partial differential equations. Based on the theoretic analysis for the inverse problems for PDE, we can show a simple way to choose the penalty terms and parameters.
