TITLE Arithmetical Ranks of Certaion Ideals

ABSTRACT Let f1; f2; : : : fs be polynomials in n varieties over an algebraic closed field k. Then these s-many polynomials define an affine variety V Ank set-theoretically if they vanish at a given k- rational point precisely when it belongs to V . The minimal number of polynomials to define V is called the arithmetical rank of V .
In this talk, we will discuss the relation of arithmetical ranks with other invariants for ideals in k[x1; x2; ; xn]. Moreover, we shall determine the arithmetical ranks for some special type of ideals.
