TITLEAn Introduction to Algebraic K Theory

ABSTRACT Algebraic K theory is an active area of research which has connection with algebra, algebraic geometry, topology and number theory. There are lots of interesting results proved using K theoretic methods. For example, Mercurjev and Suslin theorem on Brauer groups of fields, Serre's conjecture on the vanishing of intersection multiplicities for module over a regular local ring e.t.c. In this talk, we would like to introduce the notion of Grothendieck group and give some examples.
