I saw this film last night and was so mesmerized by it that I watched it again immediately. The film was shot from the perspective of a lonely isolated girl's (Ana's) point of view and the landscape matches the inner world of the child perfectly--beautiful, haunting and incomprehensible. Something monumental happened in the adult world and Ana was accidentally caught at the center of it. Only that we don't really find out exactly what happened. This is partly because we, looking through Ana's eyes, focus on the aspects that would attract the attention of a child, but mostly because what happened was only partially comprehensible to Ana, hence, to us. This is exactly as it should be. On second viewing, I did figure out what exactly happened, but the impact is done. This is one of those rare films that one watches once to experience the mystery and again to discover the story. Eugene Xia
